From the President

With the year drawing to a close, though I am sure for most at a rather frenetic pace, I want to thank all Members and Associates for your continuing support and encouragement in so many ways and for all the efforts you make to enrich the lives of students in residence in our collegiate communities. We are so privileged to have leadership roles in such a profession!

Especially I want to thank the members of the Executive – Rose Alwyn, Carla Tromans, Marie Leech, Barbara Green and Iyla Davies – for their commitment, energy and good humour in the work we do, and, of course, to acknowledge with great appreciation the thorough help and support given by our Executive Officer, Deborah Pugh. We are served well by such a team.

We look forward look forward to the coming year, and in particular to the Collegiate Way International Conference to be held at ANU from 13 to 17 November. Plans are underway and please find our ‘Call for Papers/Presentations’. With the theme ‘Collegiate Communities – Global Contexts’, the conference will continue to explore and affirm the enormous value of collegiate life that adds so much value to the student experience. Our biennial conference will be incorporated into this significant international gathering.

May I also remind you of our ‘Future Leaders Grants’ program that was launched at our recent Forum. We very much look forward to applications from Deputies/Deans with proposed projects that will in some way focus on aspects of college/residential life. See details.

On behalf of the Executive, I wish you a wonderfully relaxed holiday break and a very happy Christmas, Festive Season and New Year.

(Dr) Ian Walker
