  • Save the Date: UCA  Melbourne Forum, 29 September - 1 October, 2021
Dear Member,

As 2020 draws to a close and there is much that we will want to leave behind, the year has also given us the opportunity to reflect on what we, as leaders of colleges and residential halls, do and the value of community. Whilst unable to meet in person and our Melbourne Forum postponed for a full year, we trust the UCA's online resource base and member webinars provided new ways to learn from one another and from experts in their field.  

It was clear that Members appreciate the opportunity to debrief with colleagues and so we introduced  an informal one hour session where College Heads may ask their colleagues a question, share stories, get and give advice. The need for Deans & Deputies to formally engage to drive professional development and best practice has also been recognised and we shall be announcing further opportunities for Deans & Deputies to connect through a program of events early in the New Year.

Initiatives for 2021
The Executive Committee is currently finalising a calendar of online events and we welcome your suggestions for topics and speakers.  Commencing in March our program includes:
  • Deans & Deputies webinars 
  • Heads' webinars
  • Webinars for Heads and Deans & Deputies
Save the date
We look forward to providing valuable opportunities to meet online but also for meaningful face-to-face social interaction when Members can meet in person at UCA's Melbourne Forum, to be held at St Hilda's College at the University of Melbourne from Wednesday 29 September to Friday 1 October.

Expressions of Interest for 2021
UCA will continue its series of Online Forums in 2021.  Commencing in March, Online Forums will be held on the second Tuesday of the month and 'Conversations with Colleagues' will be held on the fourth Tuesday of the month.  Further details for our newly created Deans & Deputies Network will be provided early in the New Year.  All sessions will run 2:00pm - 3:00pm AEDT.  We have a number of suggestions including Strategic Planning & Managing Risk, Working with the College Chair & College Governance. 

We welcome further suggestions or expressions of interest from Members who may wish to present on a particular topic of relevance.  Please contact Deborah Pugh to register any expression of interest here or phone 0434 400 653.
