Dear Members,

Announcing UCA's Executive Committee
We were thrilled to see so many faces at last week's online AGM and I am pleased to write to you as UCA's newly elected President.  Whilst I have been an Executive Committee member since 2017 and recently served as Vice-President, I am excited to lead UCA at this pivotal time for the higher education sector.  The new Executive Committee is as follows and see further details here:
  • President - Wayne Erickson
  • Vice-President - Joanna Rosewell
  • Secretary - Rose Alwyn
  • Treasurer - Mark Sampson
  • General Committee - Bill Peirson
  • General Committee - Jeremy Boland
  • Immediate Past President - Barbara Green AM
With gratitude to Barbara Green AM & Dr Ian Walker
In introducing our newly elected Executive Committee, I would like to acknowledge our sincere gratitude to outgoing Committee Members, Mrs Barbara Green AM and Dr Ian Walker.

Barbara's involvement in UCA is extensive having been a member of the Executive, elected as Vice-President 2008-2010, President 2010-2012 and member of the International Advisory Committee for Collegiate Way International since its formation  in 2014.  Despite having retired as Principal of St Hilda's College in 2017, Barbara was endorsed as UCA President in 2018-2021 ably guiding the association and addressing the challenges presented by COVID-19.  Honouring her leadership and contribution to UCA, Barbara was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 2018 and in 2020, was awarded an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) for significant service to tertiary education, particularly to university colleges, in the Queen's Birthday Australian Honours.

Ian has been involved in the university sector since 1994.  He has been Head of Toad Hall since 2010.  From 2011-2014, he was also Head of Ursula Hall.  He was previously Principal of The Kensington Colleges and Dean of New College at UNSW where he completed a PhD in the history of Australian universities and the establishment of residences, especially denominational colleges.  Ian has served terms as UCA President and Vice-President and convened our Canberra Conference in 2012, our Forum in 2015 and the second Collegiate Way International Conference in 2016.  Along with Barbara, he is a member of the Collegiate Way International Advisory Board.  More recently, Ian established the Graduate Residences Network. Ian will not be lost to UCA as he will continue to play a role in establishing this Network and in encouraging our connection with AHISA and other school associations.
The Roadmap Ahead
Following on from work on the UCA Value Proposition and Strategic Planning, our AGM provided the Executive with an opportunity to present Members with a Discussion Paper on repositioning and further professional resourcing of the Association.  The Members present at the AGM expressed strong support for the new repositioning and resourcing model presented by the Executive.  Please read the Paper here

My Committee and I will contact you over the coming weeks to gain your input into this process.  If in the meantime you would like to speak to a Member of the Committee, please contact us here
